As mentioned, this beautiful asana has many benefits since it is a hip opener, and a back bend. One being the opening of the hips and psoas. As we know the hips hold many emotions, and by surrendering into this posture we release those emotions, stress and any tension that may have been trapped inside. Once you have begun to release and relax the psoas and the hips we can then begin to move into a back bend, opening our hearts, offering and receiving love, letting go of ego and moving into the light.
