It is not necessary to react to everything you notice.
We are in an interactive world where we think everything requires a response, there for putting our minds into constant reaction mode. Wether that be verbally, mentally or physically.
Its important to remember, it is not necessary to react to everything. It is, however, important to be aware. You can be aware of something, a thought, a sound, a feeling, without reacting. Simply becoming aware of the sensations and moving on, while staying in the present moment and complete awareness of your present situation.
Iyengar said, “we will never arrive to meditate because most of us have not yet mastered the first step to mediation, concentration (Dharana).” Dharana is complete mind and body awareness. It is the ultimate goal of yoga, being free from distractions. Allowing the Self to become the observer.
This week we will work on encouraging our mind body awareness/concentration with a routine focused on the lower region of our body (hips, lower back, and the pelvic floor), to even out our bodies from last weeks practice on the upper body. I know my arms sure need a break after all those hand stands 😉
See you on the tapis!
Have a great week 🙂
